What have we been up to?

Well, since school started we have been very busy. Jeremi has vball practice every morning at 6:45. Then, once a week she has cheer practice after school till 5:15. Then, she either cheers on Monday or Tuesday nights so we are at the field until at least 8. Then, on Thursdays, she has vball games till about 7:30 or 8. I feel like all I do is run, run, and oh yea-run. Aidan is a handfull. He can only handle so much football and vball before either Bobby or I have to take him home while the other one stays with Jeremi. Bobby is Bobby-working, playing softball, and being a great dad. I am always so tired after school that I am in bed right after Aidan. I went to the doctor today and my levels are really good. My insurance won't pay for an insulin pump until after December but my doctor said that he is working on getting me a loaner until then so I can go ahead with it. We will see. I am looking forward to getting the pump. Well, gotta put Aidan in bed and then of course, go to bed myself. Enjoy the pics. Will post more later.

4th of July

We went to Beaumont for the 4th. Bobby's dad is about to go work in Madagascar so we wanted to spend time with him before he left. He had also told Jeremi that he would get a pool so he followed through and we wanted to take advantage of that-and maybe escape all the rain we have had. We have tried to talk him into a "real" pool for a couple of years now to no avail. This is the next best thing. We had fun-lots of good food and family. However, when it came to the fireworks-not so much fun for one little fella. He loved all the little stuff we got for him and he loved all the color but when it came to all the loud noises-not so much. So, needless to say me and Aidan stayed inside for the fireworks show. He is still not good with loud noises. He can handle the lawnmower but when it comes to the vacuum or a blow dryer-not having it. He runs the other way. Enjoy the pics.

Changes

Well, as some of you already know, on my birthday this year, my life changed forever. I had one week of summer school down. That Saturday the 12th, I woke up and felt really bad. I spent the rest of the day puking. I would vomit and still feel like I had just eaten a full meal. I was having problems breathing as well. I stayed in bed all day and just thought it was a virus. Until..... the next morning when I was still puking. I called a friend around 6 that morning and asked her to come watch Aidan so Bobby could take me to the ER. I was so dehydrated and weak I could barely walk. When I got to the ER the doctor walked in and was talking to me, asking me what was going on. Then, he told me I was diabetic. I told him no. I told him that I had had gestational diabetes but not now. He told me he could smell it on my breath. I told him it was just because I had been puking and hadn't brushed my teeth. He said no, you are diabetic. The nurse took my blood sugar level and it was 3 times what it should be. He told me I was in DKA or diabetic ketoacidosis. This is what people used to die from. Needless to say, it was very bad. They tried to take x-rays and I couldn't even stand up for that. They started fluids right away and told me they were admitting me to the hospital. I had to ride in an ambulance to North cypress hopsital-which is an awesome hospital. I was put in a regular room, and within 10 minutes they moved me to ICU-a little scary. They told me they needed to monitor me very closely for the next 24 hours. I had two different IV's with stuff running through them and the nurses were in there every hour to check everything. I was out of it. They also told me that my potassium levels were dangerously low as well. Having potassium running through you is not fun-AT ALL. I got to move to a regular room the next day and stayed for another 3 days. Needless to say, I am now a Type 1 diabetic who will have to be on insulin for the rest of my life. I have to check my sugar levels 4-5 times a day and give two different injections at least 4 times a day. My doctor says I am a great candidate for the insulin pump-but I am still unsure of that. The sad thing is-I started experiencing symptoms back in March and told my doctor about it and she just blew me off and told me we could test later-so basically it could have not been as bad if she would have just tested me like I asked. Let's just say I will be looking for another doctor. So....now I am having to eat way differently than I used to-which is not all bad. Just a lot to take in all at once. It will take awhile to get everything under control and my doctor always reminds me that if it were 100 years ago I would not still be here talking to him-little overwhelming. So, things have been crazy this last month and believe me... I will never forget this birthday. I didn't even get a birthday cake.

Aidan's Birthday

Well, it has taken a month to get this posted. Things have been a little busy around the Vasek household. For Aidan's birthday we just did a family thing at Chuck E. Cheese. He loved it. He was son into all the games until he saw Chuck E. He followed him around and wanted to touch his shoes. We got a couple of pictures of them together. It was so cute. He had so much fun playing. After we got home we let him open his presents. He got the new improved bubble mower and a grill just like daddy's. We have "eaten" so many hot dogs and hamburgers that we are sick of them. He loves to grill. He even takes it outside when Bobby is grilling outside. He makes sizzle noises when he puts the burgers on the grill.
Aidan has gotten so big-and such a temper. He is throwing fits with the best of them. He doesn't like time out and will say sorry over and over until I let him out. He has started talking lots more. He won't be quiet now. IF you don't listen to him he will scream your name until you do. When we went for his 2 year checkup he weighed 26 lbs and was 34 inches tall. However, his head was in the 90th percentile. So we have a very skinny boy with a big head. The crazy thing is the boy eats all the time. I guess he is just so active-by which I mean he never stops-that he doesn't gain weight. We are starting potty training later this month-great fun. He will sit on the potty and loves to wipe and flush but won't ever do anything. He tells me when he has a dirty diaper but not before. Hopefully, by the end of the summer things will be done.

Is it too early for the Terrible Twos?

I know that alot of parents say that their child goes through some sort of the Terrible Twos before they are actually two. I am pretty sure we are definitely there already. Here lately Aidan has been sticking out his tongue at us. Well, at first it was cute but now I am pretty sure he knows it is not good. When we call his name or he gets in trouble he will stick his tongue out and laugh. Granted it is hard not to laugh but we know it isn't good. Now, he has started hitting. Alot of the time in the face. We have tried the whole sitting out thing and it is not working. Obviously, he is too young to spank and it is not a good thing to spank(hit) him when he is hitting. When he gets in trouble he will look at you, say "no, no" and then hit at you. His babysitter says he doesn't do it there, so I guess that is good. I guess since Jeremi was such an easy baby, and a girl, I am going to experience the true joy of raising a "boy"..Great, can't wait. Which by the way, he is all boy. He loves to be outside.

Waiting to get those eggs!

Been Awhile

It has been awhile since I have posted. It seems like things keep getting crazier and crazier. We have been so busy. Jeremi had a major family history project we had to work on and we are still in the process of working on her Texas history project. We are headed to the Battleship and San Jacinto Monument tomorrow to finish up. Jeremi is doing good. She is almost an eighth grader. I can't believe it. Where does the time go? Speaking of getting big. I can't believe my little man is about to be two.He is into everything. He has no fear. He had his first busted lip a couple of weeks ago. He tripped at the softball park and caught himself with his lips. Not fun.
We have gone to the rodeo since my last post. He loved watching all the animals and riding some of the rides. Me, on the other hand, I had more fun eating all the food. We even got to see the Jonas Brothers. We were leaving and heard alot of girls screaming. Bobby went over to check it out and took some pictures. One of my friends gave Bobby and I tickets to go see Lady Antebellum at the rodeo, so we got to have a date night. We had alot of fun.
Easter was a couple of weeks ago. We went to the Saturday night service at church so it wouldn't be so crowded. Sunday morning we just hung out at the house and Jeremi and Aidan dyed Easter eggs and then they hunted them. I had to make Jeremi hunt with Aidan. She was not too happy about that. All Aidan wanted to do was bang the eggs together. It was cute watching him put the eggs in his basket.
School is almost over for this year. I am excited. It has been a long and stressful year. I am ready for a change. I have asked my administrators if at all possible if next year I can change grade levels. I am praying and hoping. I think after 7 years in Kindergarten I am ready for a change. However, if it does happen, I am a little nervous.
Aidan's birthday is just around the corner. We haven't really decided where we want to have it. We are thinking maybe just at the park. We thought about the Little Gym, since Aidan has been taking a class there. Which by the way, he is having so much fun. He has really become more social and learned to follow the teacher. Anyway, not quite sure what we are doing, so stayed tuned for more info. Summer is coming soon and I have a feeling it will be full of firsts for Aidan and crazy busy for Bobby and I. Until next time, enjoy the pictures.

These days with Aidan

So, I can't believe my son is closer to 2 now. He is growing everyday. His new thing is squealing at the top of his lungs. It is like a piercing sound-which is not fun. He is eating like crazy. However, he will only eat veggies if they are mixed in with something else. He loves drinking out of a straw or a "big" cup. No more sippy cups for him. He has such a personality and will let you know when he doesn't like something. He loves to give hugs and kisses, but only on his time. I love watching him and Jeremi play. Now that he is bigger she is paying alot more attention to him. He loves to be in her room, especially when she has music going. He loves to dance. If her door is shut he will go and knock on it until she opens it. He can reach the handle but hasn't figured out how to turn it yet. He is talking alot more now. Bobby is teaching him the vowels. They will go around saying, a,e,i,o,u all the time. He is definitely repeating everything you say. His favorite word right now is trash. He will found the smallest thing on the floor just so he can say trash and go throw it away. I am hoping that if won't be long until we can start potty training. When one of us goes to the restroom he comes in there and starts pulling his diaper off. I have sat him on his seat a couple of times but he just sits there. He definitely knows what toilet paper is for. He pretends to wipe when he is sitting on the toilet. Since he has had diaper rash a couple of times, he has some Cars underwear that I put on him to "air" out. He loves wearing them. He has started Little Gym. At first, he was not too interested, but now loves it. At least, loves doing what he wants to do. He is quite the dare devil. I just can't believe he is growing up so fast. Our neighbors just had a baby and it made me think back to when I had him. It seems so long ago. I just love him so much.

Kemah-here we come!

This weekend we had to start on Jeremi's history project. She has to visit at least 3 historical places in Texas-get pictures-info- and write a report and do a posterboard. We were going to go to the Blue Bell factory but for some weird reason they are closed on Saturdays. Then, she wanted to go to the Prison Museum in Huntsville. We were trying to do anything but that. We have been stuck inside for awhile with Aidan being sick and wanted to get out and have fun. Then, she mentioned the Moody Mansion. We went there, did what we needed to do, and then decided to go to Kemah. I have never been before, so I was excited. We decided if we were going to ride some of the rides that we better eat first. We ate at The Flying Dutchmen. It was good, but nothing wonderful-except for the price. We then ventured over to the Aquarium. We went through the Stingray Reef and watched as Bobby and Aidan touched the Stingrays. Aidan was loving it when they would come up out of the water wanting food. After our food had settled, we started toward the amusement rides. Aidan rode some things and then Jeremi and I rode the roller coaster. It was funny because Jeremi had never ridden one before. I love roller coasters, however, this time, not so much. My neck is so stiff and sore that I think my roller coaster days are over. We then decided to ride the train around the area, eat a funnel cake and go home. It was a long day, but so much fun with the family.

Holiday Pics

Catching up

So it has been awhile since I blogged. Between holidays and the new year, I haven't found time. Where to start? Thanksgiving, I guess. We went to Lubbock. The trip there wasn't bad-except for Aidan woke up about 11 at night and we got there at 2 in the morning and he was ready to play. While we were there Bobby went hunting. He got a deer, so now we have tons of deer meat. Yummy! Jeremi went on to Chicago with Gege to see her aunt and cousins. She said it was cold but still fun. The rest of us drove back-I think it was the longest trip ever. Especially when we got back up the next morning to go to Beaumont to have Thanksgiving with Bobby's family. It was the first holiday since Bobby lost his granddad, so it was a little emotional. It was good to see family. As soon as we got back I was ready to put all the Christmas stuff out. We had fun doing that. Jeremi helped while Aidan touched everything. It was so funny because he wanted to pull things off of the tree but knew better. He would get really close and then look at me, like he was waiting one me to say something. Christmas was fun. Jeremi tore into her presents. Aidan on the other hand, did want to open anything he wanted to play with everyone else's stuff. My brother and his family were here. We got my niece a set of princess shoes. Aidan was more excited about that then anything else. He loves shoes. He used to not want to wear shoes and now we can't take them off. It was fun but I was ready to take things down the day after Christmas. I wanted my house back to normal. For New Years, Jeremi was in Lubbock and the boys and I just went to an early dinner and then stayed home and watched movies. I was really afraid that the fireworks outside would wake Aidan up but he slept right through that and the live Tejano music from the house 2 doors down that played until 1:30 in the morning. We are excited about the New Year and what all it will bring.
